Hello,👋
My name is Andrew Pate, i was born at a very young age the youngest son of poor share croppers … jk. Dad was a Cop, Mom was a nurse. After a few failures in college i went to a trade school and became a Journeyman Electrician, where after multiple ditches and absolutely terrible people i went back to college with a vengeance.. and eventually graduating in ‘02 with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering.. playing guitar became my escape and in just a few years i was totally burned out on the engineering life.. so i fell back to writing songs.. many many songs. Achieving platinum record sales and a plethora of mistakes fueled by low self esteem, a lack of confidence and mistakenly surrounding myself with degenerate druggy loosers.. touring hard with multiple disciplines, within a decade my body gave out, requiring back surgery and surviving multiple battles with testicular cancer.. completely sidelined and looking again for my life fulfilling quest!! I stumbled upon Coffee..
years earlier i had experienced true artesian coffee in Italy while touring as a bass player.. so i knew quality existed ….. unfortunately it was across the pond.. fat americans like lard and sugar in their cuppa, so quality isn’t necessary when peeps just need the caffeine …
I soon found fulfillment in this rare quality coffee pursuit, healing my crippled body and letting my hormones balance back to tolerable levels I researched purchasing , roasting, and trying to run a business.. it was a brutal learning curve … i spent every penny i had and bought my first drum roaster.. there was no way to learn the how without the proper tool. So, i learned.. with years of trial and error the Quality came at the perfect time, for in 2016’ streaming platforms depleted my writer’s royalties. (I still refuse to pay for a streaming service of any kind, those that do killed the art of song writing)… I was completely broke, i lost my house, my van, even my Tom cat.. but i had one goal. QUALITY coffee..
currently 5/26 im starting my second decade in roasting coffee.. (not brewing, i will never be a barista). In my quest im still learning every day, seems the challenge of roasting has completely consumed me. And i am happy.. again.
